We are so glad you are here!

About St. Matthew

St. Matthew United Methodist Church is a gathering of Christians located in Lubbock, TX. We hope that you will stop by and worship with us if you are in the area.
We want to meet you where you are and hopefully help you grow in a meaningful relationship with God, through Jesus. We are people who struggle and hurt as we face the daily pressures of life. We are also people who are experiencing the life and joy of Jesus Christ in our daily lives. We would like nothing more than to have you join us as we seek, learn, and grow together in our spiritual walks with God.
Whether you’re seeking God, curious about our fellowship, or attend our worship service regularly, there’s something for you here. Our church exists to minister to the real needs of people with the authentic love of Jesus Christ! We invite you to experience the genuine worship, encouraging messages, friendly people and enjoyable atmosphere that are a part of our community. We hope you will come and grow with us, find a place to belong and then reach out to your friends as we grow in God’s grace. And, if you do not have a church home, we would be honored to have you consider becoming a part of our fellowship.
Friendly, warm, caring body of believers passionate about others finding Jesus as the answer.
Church can happen anywhere. It happens when we create learning opportunities that transform lives. It happens when we create safe environments where children can play and learn. It happens when education makes the path to citizenship a little easier. And when our sacrifices help nourish students’ minds and bodies. That’s putting beliefs into action.

Mission Statement

St. Matthew United Methodist Church is seeking a partnership among pastor, laity and community, built on a foundation of prayer, empowered by vital worship and praise and issuing in a ministry of service and love transforming lives, community and world. Through the continued growth of its members, it seeks to “change the atmosphere” of its neighborhood through the active practice of committed sacrifice and generosity.

Our Story

At St. Matthew we believe that the Church should BE THE CHURCH, and that the church should reach outside of the building. Let us help you put your gifts into ministry. Whether it be on the Praise team, Choir, mission, or planning session, we want you to find purpose in using the gift God has given you.

Shared Ministry

The foundation of the United Methodist Church is connectionalism. This connection means we do better together than we do alone. Our church family consists of many parts, when connected, makes a big impact.
As members, we agree to:
  • Help with financial support
  • Offer our time
  • Pray for the church
  • Participate in community.
Our membership agreement is universal in expression of belonging and commitment. We care
about each other, act in love, belong in community, grow spiritually, and sustain the church for future generations.
